Yemi Mary John wins U/20 World Championship

Racing in Cali, Colombia, in the World Junior (U/20) Championships, Woodford's Yemi Mary John (coached by Alan James) achieved a stunning win over 400m in yesterday's final. After winning both her heat in a p.b. of 52.42 secs and then her semi in another p.b of 51.72 secs, Yemi Mary, who won silver in last season's European U/20 Champs,  was drawn in lane four for the final. A close second at 200m, Yemi Mary held her form well and finished strongly to take the win by 0.21 secs in another personal best of 51.50 secs. That mark, as did her time in the semi, puts her second on the UK all-time list for U/20's behind Linsey MacDonald and ranks her 2nd on this year's world lists.
