World Championships - British record for Sember and semi-final for Rowden

Racing in Eugene on the final day of the World Championships on Sunday Cindy Sember finished 5th in the final of the 100mH with a a very fast, albeit windy time of 12.36 secs (+2.6). Times were incredibly fast throughout including a new world record of 12.12 secs (+0.9) in the semis from the eventual winner, Nigerian Tobi Amusan. In that same semi-final Cindy recorded 12.50 secs (+0.9) to place 4th and qualify for the final and in so doing she improved her sister's (Tiffany Porter) GB&NI record by 0.01 secs. Daniel Rowden qualified for the 800m semi-finals after front-running his heat where although he faded in the closing stages he had ensured that the pace would be quick enough to allow him to qualify as a fastest loser. Running in the second of three semi-finals with only the first two guaranteed a final place Daniel placed 3rd in 1m46.27 secs. Although finishing strongly Daniel was too far adrift of the first two to be a fastest loser and progress any further.
