2 Club Records At Essex Track Relay Champs
After a 3 year break the Essex Track Relay Championships were back on at Chelmsford Athletic Track on a sunny and warm Friday evening on 15th July.
The u/15 girls started the proceedings with the only event that had heats. The 4x100m team (Amana Oguntuga, Nevaeh Johnson, Grace Olusegan & Zoe Hedges) produced a solid run in heat 1 see them finish comfortably in 1st with: 51.4sec, and then they matched this in the final with precisely the same time to win GOLD.

In the u/13 girls 4x100m (Evanna Eze, Remi Salako, Isabella Moulton & Annabel Reid) had a couple of changes leading up to the event, but they didn't let this faze them at all, and they were delighted to finish 2nd with a time of 54.9sec and win SILVER.

The u/13 boys 4x100m team (Toby Taylor, Daniel Niewczasinski-Kirkland, Riley Michaels & Callum Clydesdale) went one better in their very close race in a time of 53.3sec to win GOLD.

In the longer sprints the u/15 girls 4x300m team (Natasha Wynn, Eliza Bridges, Daisy Anderson & Isabelle Kyson) claimed not only a superb GOLD medal but also a CLUB RECORD in a time of 2m 54.9sec.

The u/15 boys 4x300m team of Chiji Nwankwo, Jaheim Roman, Lucas Emeagi & Thomas Niewczasinski-Kirkland was very unlucky in their race as they came from way off the pace to power home in what was first thought to be first place only to be told that they had been DQ for cutting in too early. It was a real shame as they worked so hard, but unfortunately that is athletics and they will learn from that.
The other relays that the Juniors took part in were the 3x800m distances in all the 3 age groups. In the u/13 girls they had two teams taking part and the A team of Jasmine Hall, Faye Owers & Autumn Le Chevalier Jones) were impressive coming home with a well earned BRONZE medal and a new CLUB RECORD to boot in a time of 7m 48.8sec, while the B team of Phoebe Edmondson, Isla Fulling & Chloe Jennings were 9th in a time of 9m 32.8sec.

The u/13 boys 3x800m also had 2 teams. The A team of Daniel Arnold, Stephen Ng & Teddy Newson ran really well and came home with a SILVER medal in a time of 7m 41.5sec while the B team of Tayo Adetona, Charlie Howes & Zac Everitt finished 7th in 8m 43.4sec.

The u/15 boys team of Patrick Hayden, Gregor Samson & Oliver Brown were in a very tough race but this did not deter them and they each individually ran well to finish 7th with a time of 7m 32.7sec.
To finish off the proceedings, the u/17 men (Jimmy Geller, Alfie Ward & Reuben Fabian) were simply amazing. They refused to let anyone take top spot away from them, and this was highlighted with a gritty and determined last leg by Reuben who, after positions going back and forth in the last leg, was able to hold on for a GOLD medal and a time of 6m 12.9sec.
