Cindy Sember, who recently placed 5th at the Eugene World Championships, was Woodford's only medal winner at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Cindy finished 3rd to pick up bronze in Birmingham, just .01 behind second in a race won by the World Champion and World Record holder Tobi Amuson from Nigeria. Cindy clocked 12.59 secs (-0.2), having won her heat in 12.67 secs (+2.5). Other Woodford athletes in action for the home countries were Ellen McCartney (N.I.) who placed 7th in the Pole Vault, setting a personal best and new Club record of 4.25m. Will Grimsey (Sco) was also 7th, in the high jump with a height of 2.19m. Mark Dry (Sco) was 10th in the hammer with 66.86m and, in the women's 4x100m, Rebecca Matheson led off the Scotland team which progressed to the final where they finished eighth.
