TRIALS & INVITE MEET 22/05: RESULTS
Trials & Invite Meet 22/05/2021: Results
The first match at Ashton Playing Fields since the new stand was installed also saw a partial return to normality after a Covid ravaged gap in competition for most Woodford athletes. Almost 150 WGEL and Woodford Wasps athletes competed in the event which served as a trials ahead of our forthcoming league seasons and also an opportunity to take on other local and invited athletes.
With so many strong performances it is hard to highlight too many, especially with the majority of Woodford athletes either achieving personal bests or competing for the first time. Alex Foster’s debut performances of 12.87 at 100m (a club best electronic time) and 25.81 at 200 place him 2nd in the early season U13 boys rankings. Thomas Niewczasinski-Kirkland just missed out on topping the initial ranking in the U13 boys 75m hurdles with 14.25 and improved his position at the top of the long jump rankings with 5.04. Other grade 1 AAA standards came from U17W Shona Vincent, a 25.14PB in the 200m, U20M Nabil Tezkratt in the 400m (49.20 outdoor debut) and 200m (21.90PB), while Denesha Rocastle jumped 11.63 in the triple jump. Lucy Marshall travelled further than most to be amongst those throwing hammer for the first time in our new cage, winning in 56.89.
