Track & Field Round - Up

Several Woodford athletes have been in action in the last several days, recording a number of useful performances including a personal best in the discus for Chris Linque.

Chris LInque, who has been enjoying a consistent season in the discus, threw his personal best at the LEAP meeting at Loughborough over the weekend where he placed 3rd with 50.87m. Also throwing well at the same meeting in the hammer was Lucy Marshall who was 5th in 60.79m ahead of HCA member Myra Perkins with 59.65m. Also at Loughborough, Jack Lawrie won over 400mH with 51.99 secs, HCA member Moe Sasegbon placed 3rd in the high jump with 1.75m and Sarah Busby raced twice over 100m recording 12.19 secs (+0.7) and 12.17 secs (+0.3).

After a serious tear of his hamstring during the BUCS indoor Championships Omololu Abiodun has been forced to sit out the whole outdoor season as he re-hab'ed. Omololu was pleased to be back in action at a meeting in Guernsey where, understandably a long way from his best, he was pleased to record 11.08 secs (+1.1) over 100m. In Italy at Padova, Italy, GB Rio representative Cindy Ofili enjoyed a comfortable victory in 13.11 secs (-0.8). From Scotland there was news of other interesting performances from 400mH specialists Ewan Dyer and Jack Lawrie. Ewan recorded 49.73 secs over 400m and also 1m57.42secs, ahead of Jack who recorded 2m00.09 secs.
