3 medals at U17 SEAA Champs
At the U/17 & U/15 South of England Championships at Ashford 3 of our athletes came away with medals. Shayne Dewar continued his excellent season with a win in the U/17 200m. He qualified for the final without any problem and, in a close-run final, just squeezed home to claim gold in a time of 21.83sec which, if it isn't rounded up, would be a PB.
Adam Mountford, in his 1st year in the U/17s, has started to flourish in athletics and this was evident in his 400m. Spread over both days he qualified 2nd in his heat on Saturday, and then, on Sunday, he produced a powerful performance to stave off an attack by an Orion athlete in the home straight to claim 2nd place and the silver medal with a big PB of over 0.5s, to lower his time now to 50.15sec.
The third medal was the U17 Men's High Jump bronze won by Scott Webster with his third attempt at 1.85m. Scott's PB remains 1.87m.
A below-par Stephanie Howe was 13th in the U17 Women's Hammer, recording 39.34m with her only legal throw.
