Several other Woodford athletes were in action over the last few days, including at Loughborough where there was a second World Championships qualifying distance for Mark Dry, and a personal best for Lucy Marshall;the Watford BMC meeting where there were personal bests for Ed Shepherd, James Stockings and Gavin Lewis; and the Southern U/17 inter-counties, where there were two personal bests for Shayne Dewar.
Competing at the Loughborough European Permit meeting, Mark Dry achieved his 2nd World Championship qualifying mark of the season as he placed 2nd with 76.56m. Also competing at Loughborough was Shana Cox who won over 400m with 53.29 secs, Eugene Ayanful who recorded times of 10.64 secs (+1.5) and 10.56 secs (+1.6), and in the hammer where Lucy Marshall recorded a personal best for the second successive week in the hammer with 59.38m.
Woodford middle distance athletes took advantage of the mid-week good weather at the Watford BMC meeting with Ed Shepherd leading home four Woodford athletes in the 1500m with a p.b. of 3m50.11 secs, just ahead of James Stockings also with a p.b. of 3m50.18, secs, Andrew Mariani with 3m51.58 secs, and Gavin Lewis also with a p.b. of 3m51.87 secs. In the 800m, Jon Cook was back to his best recording a season's best of 1m48.91 secs for 4th. Jon also raced at the BMC Oxford meeting where in the mile he recorded 4m05.47 secs. U/20 Bradley Wattleworth recorded 4m22.71 secs over the same distance. After his 2nd place in the English Schools, U/17 Canaan Soloman represented England in the Schools international at Grangemouth where he placed 4th in1m57.01 secs.
On Friday night in Monaco, Tiffany Porter raced in the IAAF Diamond League and placed 5th in the 100mH with 12.66 secs (-0.3).
Another recording personal bests was 16 year old Shayne Dewar who represented Essex in the U/17 Inter-Counties at High Wycombe. Two days after elder brother Joseph's European junior silver medal over 100m, Shayne placed 2nd over 100m with a personal best of 10.82 secs (+0.9) and then won over 200m with 21.85 secs (+1.0), also a personal best.
British Athletics Jumps and Throws Fest took place at Birmingham over the weekend. In the shot, Anthony Oshodi won with 16.03m, as did Ezekiel Ewolu in the long jump with 7.69m (+0.3). Zainab Ceesay was 2nd in the triple jump with 12.87m (-1.2), Mark Dry won the hammer with 70.71m and Lucy Marshall was 4th in the women's event with 56.21m. In the discus, Chris Linque threw 46.55m, Jack Lochans was 9th in the high jump with 1.97m, but in the Pole Vault Nikko Hunt failed to clear a height.
