European U/23 medals for Yemi Mary and Rebecca

Yemi Mary John the reigning European 400m U/23 Champion had to settle for silver as she defended her title in Bergen last weekend.

Nevertheless in placing second behind Norway's Henriette Jaeger who set a CBP of 49.74 secs, (and whose p.b. of 49.62 secs is 8th ranked in the world) Yemi Mary improved her own p.b. to 50.50 secs achieving a qualifying mark for the Tokyo World Championships. Also making it through to that 400m final was Woodford's Rebecca Grieve who after qualifying with 52.36 secs and 52.56 secs placed 8th with 52.59 secs. On the final day and with Yemi Mary anchoring both Rebecca and Yemi Mary picked up gold medals as the GB team comfortably won the 4x400m in a CBP and European U/23 record of 3m26.52 secs.
