BUCS and other Indoor News
Last weekend saw several Woodford athletes represent their universities at the BUCS indoor Championships held in Sheffield. Performances were led my medals for Georgie Forde-Wells, Ruben Hedman and Yasmine Uwakwe. There was also other indoor news, both domestically and from the U.S. and for some these would have been final outings ahead of this weekend’s British Indoor Championships in Birmingham
In Sheffield Georgie Forde-Wells, the 2023 UK outdoor champion took the BUCS indoor triple jump title with her best mark since winning that UK title and her second best ever with 13.46m which was a CBP. Ruben Hedman took silver in the 60mH with 7.94 secs, having clocked 7.93 secs in qualifying (close to his p.b. of 7.92 secs). In the women’s 60mH Yasmine Uwakwe was 3rd with a personal best of 8.43 secs.
Over 60m all Woodford athletes moved through to the semi-finals but none progressed any further. Fastest of the men was Benedict Chukwueze with a p.b. of 6.93 secs for 3rd in his semi, followed by Rory Voss with 6.98 secs for 6th in his semi. Moyin Odenrian recorded 7.00 secs in his heat but DNS his semi, this was the same time (a p.b.) Kunle Ojospie recorded in his heat. In his semi he recorded 7.07 secs. In the women’s event Shona Vincent was 4th in her semi with 7.65 secs after a season’s best of 7.64 secs to qualify.
