YDL Lower: Resounding victory secures promotion / club record set
WGEL Juniors embarked on their longest journey for a few years when they travelling in force to the south coast with Lewes AC being the hosts. After the first two matches WGEL were in prime position and this continued with an even more emphatic win by an even bigger margin of over 260 points that has now secured promotion to Division 1 next year. Scores as follows:

The under 15 boys were clinical again as Thomas Niewczasinski-Kirkland proved with a 100m in: 12.3sec, a very good 2nd place in the 200m A-string: 24.1sec and a 2nd in the Long Jump with: 5m 39cm. Jaheim Roman still very new to this sport ran the b-string 100m with: 12.6sec for 2nd. Josiah Mohammed was the b-string runner with Thomas in the 200m with a new PB of: 27.2sec. In the 300m Chiji Nwankwo stepped up to this event for the team and was superb with a 2nd place time of: 41.2sec while Jhonatan Ghebretinsae was 2nd in b-string with PB of: 47.0sec. The hurdles had double success with Chiji Nwankwo a PB of: 14.2sec and Leo Everitt: 17.4sec. Middle distance had Max Koschek finish 4th in: 2m 19.4sec and Oliver Brown also 4th in b-string with: 2m 33.6sec. The longer 1500m saw Luka Norden come 2nd with: 4m 37.5sec and Harry Stockill 1st in b-string with: 4m 38.8sec. Moving to the field events, Leo Everitt joined Thomas in the Long JUmp a was magnificent with a huge PB of: 4m 97cm. Leo also secured a PB in the High Jump: 1m 35cm and Chiji equalled his PB with the same height in b-string of: 1m 35cm. Milan Andrews although feeling not well threw: 7m 10cm in the shot, and surprisingly two PB's in the Discus with: 24m 12cm and 29m 97cm in Javelin, so well done to him. Joseph Arnold continues to impress in his new events of throwing. He was 1st b-string in Discus with a new PB: 17m 43cm, and 19m 85cm in the Hammer. Harry stockill made the transition from running 1500m to help out in the b-string hammer with 1st: 18m 25cm. The relays were to finish and the 4x100m team of (Josiah, Leo, Jaheim & Thomas) came 2nd in a time of: 50.0sec and the 4x300m team: (Jhonatan, Oliver, Harry & Chiji) were also 2nd in: 3m 09.40sec.
Caitlin Hancock ran a very good 12.7sec PB in the 100m and was supported by Zoe Hedges 1st b-string with: 13.7sec. Nevaeh Johnson ran a non scoring 100m in: 13.3sec. Nevaeh ran the 200m finishing 1st in a-string: 27.1sec and Zoe also doing the sprint double was again 1st b-string with: 27.6sec. The 300m saw Daisy Anderson come home 3rd in: 44.3sec and Amana Oguntuga was 1st b-string with a new PB time of: 46.1sec. Isabelle Kyson literally sprinted to glory in the 75m hurdles coming home 1st in a string: 11.9sec and Daisy Anderson was very happy with a 1st b-string PB time of: 14.0sec. Eliza Bridges was 4th in the 800m: 2m 34.8sec and Ella Traynor was 3rd b string with: 2m 50.5sec, while Amber Higgs-Smith recorded a time: 2m 46.1sec in the 800m non scoring race. Molly Sherrin was in solid form in the 1500m with a 1st: 5m 00.8sec and Tess Noblet's PB for 2nd b string in: 5m 11.2sec. In the Long Jump Caitlin Hancock was 1st with a leap of: 4m 77cm and Demi Salako 1st b string: 4m 11cm. High Jump saw Natasha Wynn claim a new PB with a very impressive height of: 1m 45cm and this was matched in terms of a PB by Eliza Bridges with 1st place b string: 1m 30cm. Natasha also did the shot putt with: 6m 14cm and Amber recorded a PB in the b string: 5m 27cm. Tess tackled the Discus with: 13m 41cm and Molly Sherrin: 11m 14cm. Hammer is an up and coming event for a few athletes and this is evident with Demi Salako as she threw a new PB distance of: 24m 08cm and Caitlin stepped in to gain valuable points with her first ever go of the event with 3rd in b string: 9m 39cm. Amber threw a new PB in the Javelin with: 16m 20cm and Molly was 1st b string with: 15m 80cm. In the 4x100m relay the team (Caitlin, Nevaeh, Demi & Zoe) stormed to an emphatic win in a time of: 51.9sec and the 4x330m team (Natasha, Elize, Amana & Daisy) copied them with an even bigger winning margin in 1st place time of: 3m 00.8sec.
In the under 13 boys PB's were rife. Callum Clydesdale was 1st in the 75m in: 10.2sec and Riley Michaels 1st in b string: 10.5sec. Both Daniels (Niewczasinski-Kirkland & Arnold) both recorded PB's in the non-scoring 75m with: 10.8sec and 12.3sec respectively. Callum ran the 150m and was again 1st with: 19.2sec and Lawrence Foster was also 1st with: 20.5sec. In the 75m hurdles Daniel Niewczasinski-Kirkland 1st in: 13.2sec and new sensation athlete Toby Taylor was looking very good in a very new event for him with 2nd in b string with: 13.7sec. Daniel Arnold was 1st in a string 800m with: 2m 32.7sec and Toby Taylor a PB of: 2m 43.7sec. Like the 75m's the non-scoring 800m's athletes, Okkie Lee & Zac Everitt both ran PB's in: 2m 43.6sec & 2m 55.7sec respectively. Teddy Newson and Stephen Ng both finished 1st in the 1200m with a string Teddy finishing with: 4m 06.9sec and Stephen b string: 4m 07.8sec. Now to the field events. Riley Michaels was again 1st with: 4m 49cm and Toby Taylor 1st b string: 4m 41cm. Callum 1st in a string High Jump: 1m 45cm and Oskar Kyson 1st b string: 1m 35cm. William Stander in the Shot Puut recorded a new PB with 1st place distance of: 8m 58cm and Riley Michaels 1st b string: 5m 58cm. In the Javelin a magnificent performance by Oskar Kyson who has only taken up this event in recnet months produced a big throw of: 31m 41cm and set a new CLUB RECORD that has stood since 2008. Teddy was the b string with a 1st as well with: 21m 28cm. To round off yet another 1st place in the 4x100m (Toby, Lawrence, Riley & Callum) in a time of: 53.9sec.
The under 13 girls see Evanna Eze continue her fine form with another 1st in the 75m: 10.2sec while Isabella Moulton stepping in for this event was 6th with: 11.6sec. Remi Salako continues to grow in confidence with a non scoring 75m time of: 10.5sec. In the 150m Evanna Eze was again 1st with: 20.2sec and Azzurra Cioni was 2nd in b string: 21.0sec. Isabella Moulton was 4th in a string 70m hurdles with: 13.3sec. In the 800m Faye Owers was 2nd a string with: 2m 45.0sec and Zoe Wright who is also developing in to a fine young athlete lowered her PB with a 1st b string time of: 2m 49.3sec. Marissa Higgs-Smith did the 800m non scoring event and ran a time of: 2m 53.8sec. Isla Fulling ran the 1200m with a 3rd a string time of: 4m 36.4sec and Daisy Sherrin was 2nd b string: 4m 52.4sec. The Long Jump see Remi leap to a very well respected distance of: 4m 62cm to win a string and was accompanied by Zoe Wright who also was 1st b string with: 3m 61cm. Faye Owers jumped: 1m 10cm in the High Jump along with Emily Stockill who also cleared the same height to equal her PB and finish 2nd in b string. Lara Kirby putt the shot to a new PB distance of: 6m 10cm for 3rd place in a string and Tyleah Edwards was 1st b string with: 6m 02cm. To finish the field events Daisy Sherrin was 1st in a string Javelin with a new PB distance of: 20m 21cm and Lara Kirby also a PB with: 10m 62cm and 2nd b string. To end with the girls 4x100m team (Azzurra, Isabella, Remi & Evanna) contested a very tight race but was just able to hold on to victory with a time of: 55.9sec.
As you can see there were many PB's and many 1st places whether that was a string or b string events. Now promotion guaranteed it is onward and upwards to the last match at Herts Phoenix in Ware on Saturday 30th July, GO TEAM WOODFORD Juniors.
