The Only Way is UP for WGEL Juniors
The YDL Lower match 2 had WGEL host this time, and following on from their triumph a couple of weeks ago, improved yet again, romping home by a MASSIVE 207 points. The final standing of the meeting are as follows:

In the Under 15 boys, Thomas Niewczasinski-Kirkland was again in fine form. He recorded a sprint double PB in the 100m & 200m with: 12.07s and 24.10s, and again a tremendous leap in the Long Jump with a PB of: 5m 66cm. Gregor Samson stepped in to do the b-string 100m and was delighted to record a PB in: 13.81s, and also a b string PB in the 800m with a time of: 2m 21.98s. Making his debut for the club, Jaheim Roman ran a non scoring 100m in: 12.92s and Josiah Mohammed also in the same race came home in: 13.97s. Chiji Nwankwo was b string 200m, finishing 2nd in: 26.44s, High Jump: 1m 35cm and the hammer b-string with: 11m 24cm for 1st place. Luca Emeagi was 1st again in the 300m with: 38.08s. Jhonathan Ghebretinsae was 2nd in b-string with: 47.31s. The sprint hurdles had Gregor improve his PB with: 15.48s and Leo Everitt finished with a time of: 17.15s. In the middle distance events, Max Koschek ran a superb 800m with a big PB in: 2m 14.94s. Non scoring 800m had Patrick Hayden and Oliver Brown come in: 2m 29.72s & 2m 33.65s respectively. The long distance of 1500m had both athletes finishing with a smile on their face as PB's were had by both. Harry Stockill ran: 4m 40.80s and Luka Norden: 4m 41.18s. In the Shot Putt Milan Andrews was 3rd a-string with a distance of: 7m 90cm and Oliver Brown: 5m 02cm. Milan also did the Discus a threw a new PB with: 21m 68cm, with b-string Joseph Arnold also a PB with: 15m 54cm. Joseph finished 2nd in the a-string Hammer: 14m 93cm, whilst Milan came 1st in the a-string Javelin: 28m 99cm and Oliver Brown was 2nd in b-string: 10m 52cm. In the relays, the boys were 2nd in the 4x100m with: 50.05s (Leo, Josiah, Thomas & Alex), while the 4x300m team of (Jhonatan, Chiji, Gregor & Lucas) also finished 2nd with a time of: 2m 53.66s.
Caitlin Hancock set the under 15 girls of with a PB in the 100m with: 13.0s and Zoe Hedges complemented that with a PB and 1st b-string time of: 13.51s. Caitlin also did the 200m and ran: 27.08s for a-string 1st and also 1st in a-string Long Jump with a leap of: 4m 61cm. Zoe Hedges also ran the 200m in: 28.01s. Grace Olusegun ran in the non-scoring 100m with a time of: 13.34s although it was a wind assisted time, likewise for Amana Oguntuga with: 13.61s. In the 300m Isabelle Kyson was 1st with a PB in: 41.9s and Daisy Anderson came home in: 44.58s. Isabelle was again in action in the 75m hurdles assisting Rebecca Wright with 1st places by both. Isabelle was home in: 11.86s and Rebecca: 11.45s. Rebecca also did the Shot Putt and Javelin finishing again both in 1st place with: 9m 80cm and 34m 66cm respectively. Natasha Wynn ran the 800m a-string in a time of: 2m 20.26s and sprung into action with a new PB in the High Jump: 1m 40cm. Eliza Bridges was b-string 800m and a PB was had as well with: 2m 32.86s, while Matilda Frith: 2m 42.46 PB and Ella Traynor: 2m 43.96s PB in the non-scoring 800m. Molly Sherrin ran the 1500m with Tess Noblet. Tess ran a PB in the b-string with: 5m 14.55s and Molly a-string time of: 5m 01.74s see her finish 2nd. Demi Salako was b-string Long Jump: 4m 14cm, and Grace Olusegun fresh from her sprinting was impressive with a 1st place in the a-string High Jump: 1m 45cm and 1st b-string in the Discus with a new PB of: 14m 19cm. Amber Higgs-Smith was b-string Shot and 3rd: 4m 60cm and 1st b-string Javelin: 11m 63cm. Demi improved her PB in the Hammer a-string with a big throw of: 21m 98cm while Lexie Gobran threw: 5m 94cm. Tess finished the field events with 2nd in a-string Discus: 14m 98cm. In the relays a CLUB RECORD was made in the 4x300m consisting of (Natasha Wynn, Eliza Bridges, Amana Oguntuga & Daisy Anderson), they finished 1st with a time of: 2m 59.21s which eclipsed the time set back in 2019 and was the 1st time under the magical 3 min mark. The 4x100m again an impressive 1st place (Caitlin, Rebecca, Grace & Isabelle) finished in a time of: 51.02s.
The under 13 boys again were in fine form. Callum Clydesdale competed in the sprints and a PB was delivered in the 75m with a time of: 10.05s and Riley Michaels b-string was also a PB in: 10.42s. Joshau Allen and Tayo Adetona ran in the non-scoring 75m with a PB for Joshua: 11.03s and 11.33s for Tayo. Callum was in action again the 150m and 1st a-string in: 19.60s and a new PB in the High Jump with a big jump of: 1m 47cm. Lawrence Foster was b-string 150m and a PB was also had in: 20.32s. In the 75m Hurdles, Daniel Niewczasinski-Kirkland continued to improve his technique and time with 1st in a-string of: 12.98s although it was wind assisted, so unlucky there. Daniel Arnold stepped in to to the b-string with: 17.17s but sadly another wind assisted race. In the 800m Daniel ran a well timed race storming home for 1st in a-string with: 2m 30.94s and Stephen Ng was 1st b-string in a new PB time of: 2m 36.66s. Charlie Howes and Okkie Lee were the other runners in the 800m non-scoring race with Charlie: 2m 43.42s and Okkie: 2m 53.45s. Sebastain Reid ran the 1200m in a time of: 3m 57.11s and Teddy Newson: 4m 11.22s. To the field now and Toby Taylor continues to develop into a solid athlete, taking a liking to the Long Jump. He leaped: 4m 53cm for 1st a-string with Riley Michaels again 1st b-string with: 4m 46cm. Riley also did the b-string Shot Putt with a PB distance of: 6m 20cm, while William Stander was 1st A-string in the Shot with also a PB distance of: 8m 44cm, he also did the Javelin finishing 1st b-string: 13m 27cm. Teddy Newson along with his middle distance workout was 1st b-string in the High Jump clearing a height of: 1m 20cm. To finish off, Oskar Kyson throwing the Javelin competitively for the 1st time was 2nd a-string with: 18m 12cm. Like the older age group the relay was also very impressive (Toby, Lawrence, Riley & Callum) finished in 1st place with: 54.39s, which was over two and a half seconds faster than the next best club.
Under 13 girls didn't want to be out done by the boys and again continued to improve in all areas. Azzurra Cioni ran the 75m in: 10.61s for 2nd in a-string and Isabella Moulton who ran the b-string with a new PB time of: 10.93s. Tyleah Edwards ran: 11.09s but unfortunately it was wind assisted and Annabel Reid ran: 11.24s both in the non-scoring 75m. Evanna Eze did the longer sprint race and was 1st in a new PB time of 19.95s and Esmae Mahalingham also a PB in: 21.13s for 5th b-string. In the 70m Hurdles Isabella ran nearly half a second faster with a 1st place a-string time of: 13.0s and Esmae 1st b-string: 13.33s. Faye Owers reduced her PB time in the 800m with: 2m 37.27s and although suffering from a chest infection Autumn Le Chevalier-Jones was still able to finish 1st in b-string 800m with: 2m 44.40s. Zoe Wright and Isla Barron running for the 1st time in the league format ran the non-scoring 800m, with Zoe's time: 2m 51.98s and Isla: 2m 58.41s. Jasmine Hall returned for the club and won the 1200m in a time of: 3m 55.47s and Sophia Parker, like Zoe & Isla, ran her first competitive league race in the b-string 1200m with a 1st: 4m 19.50s. In the Long Jump Remi Salako absolutely smashed it leaping an incredible distance of: 4m 74cm for 1st place. Jasmine cleared a height of: 1m 20cm and Faye Owers: 1m 15cm in the High Jump. Tyleah Edwards did the Shot Putt and was 4th a-string with: 5m 62cm , while debutant Savanna Gayle was 2nd b-string: 4m 79cm. Lastly in the Javelin Daisy Sherrin came 1st with: 14m 85cm and Marissa Higgs-Smith 3rd b-string: 6m 88cm. To round of the day the relay team lineup which changed twice due to injury still managed to finish 1st in a time of: 54.84s with the team of (Tyleah, Isabella, Remi & Evanna).
Overall the WGEL Juniors are developing and honing their skills in multi events and this is starting to come to fruition with some good and outstanding performance aided and abetted by the coaches and team managers. Next stop match 3 at Lewes AC.
