Good Indoor Marks for Woodford athletes

With the brief indoor season getting under way some of Woodford’s Track and Field athletes have already been showing good early season form. Amongst several good performances there have been personal bests over 60m for Eugene Amo-Dadzie and U/20's Medwin Odamtten and Shona Vincent.

Eugene Amo-Dadzie who last season finished second in each of the British and English Championships over 100m raced over 60m indoors for the first time this year. In the London Games at Lee Valley on Sunday Eugene raced twice, clocking 6.63 secs and then 6.60 secs as he won comfortably. That ranks Eugene first equal on the UK rankings for this season. In the U/20 equivalent Medwin Odamtten slipped at the start in his first race recording 7.13 secs, but then improved significantly in his second race winning and recording a personal best of 6.87 secs which currently ranks him fourth equal U/20 in the UK. Another racing over 60m but in the U.S. at Blacksburg VA, Andrew Robinson equalled his personal best with 6.92 secs, also recording 21.91 secs over 200m. Also racing at Lee Valley was European U/20 400m silver medallist Yemi Mary John where her win with 54.06 secs ranks her top U/20 in the U.K and second on the senior rankings. Also at Lee Valley Jasmine Mitchell finished strongly with 59.09 secs. In the U.S. HCA member Nayanna Dubarry-Gray was another going well over 400m and was close to her p.b. with 55.17 secs at Lubbock Texas. Nayana’s sister Kiah recorded 24.47 secs over 200m and Cindy Sember recorded 8.19 secs at Fayetteville Arizona over 60mH.

At Lee Valley Anna Clark had a good run over 800m 3rd with 2m09.82 secs. In the men’s 800m erroneously seeded in the A race by virtue of his 16 year old 1.48 p.b was V40 Andrew Brown who recorded a superb time for his current age group of 1m57.54secs. George Vaughan who made such good progress last season over 400m was also in action at Lee Valley and over the 60mH and he recorded good marks of 8.37 secs and 8.32 secs whilst the following day over the flat 60m he was timed at 7.35 secs and 7.38 secs. Another sprinting well, but during the week at Newham was first year U/20 Shona Vincent who twice recorded p.b. marks of 7.67 secs. There were notable marks in Manchester from internationals Cameron Fillery and Youcef Zatat. Both in their first competitions of the season Cameron recorded 7.84 secs over 6omH secs going 3rd on the UK rankings and Youcef was very close to his personal best in the shot with 18.50m for second on the rankings. Another in the shot but in Glasgow, Craig Charlton recorded 15.74m and Rebecca Matheson recorded 24.59 secs over 200m. The previous week at Aberdeen Rebecca had recorded a personal best of 7.60 secs over 60m. Multi eventer Howard Bell has been showing good form recently and has put down marks of 8.55 secs (60mH), 7.41 secs (60m), 6.83m (LJ), 4.41m (PV) and a p.b. in the shot of 13.75m. Others recording good marks in the field were Ellen McCartney with 4.01m in the PV at Loughborough and U/17 Kharina Partridge with 10.41m in the TJ at Lee Valley.
