Track and Field Update
Cameron Fillery was just 0.01 secs outside his p.b. and Club record when racing in Bydgoszcz in Poland on Wednesday evening. Cameron, last season’s European U/23 bronze medallist, was racing in the Irena Szewinska Memorial Meeting and he won over 110m H in 13.55 secs (+0.6). Several other Woodford athletes have also been in T & F action over the last week or so.
Cameron’s run in Poland came a few days after racing at Nuneaton last weekend when he placed 2nd over 110mH in 14.08 secs (-0.8). Also in action there was Ellis Greatrex who was 3rd over both 200m (22.40 secs -2.3) and 400m (47.98 secs). Jack Lawrie had his first race of the season and, in the windy conditions, won over 400mH with 52.06 secs. In the long jump and jumping into strong headwinds, Sam Khogali won with 6.95m (-3.0) and Lucy Marshall was 3rd in the hammer with 57.22m.
At Lee Valley last weekend on Saturday younger athletes were in action at the LICC meeting where, over 200m, U/17 Aiden Fernando recorded 22.94 secs (+1.9), and amongst the girls, U/17’s Shona Vincent and Zahara Malcom recorded 26.45 secs (+1.9) and 26.79 secs w (+2.9) whilst U/13 Isabelle Kyson recorded a personal best of 27.40 secs. Isabelle was also in action at Chelmsford on Wednesday and raced over 100m and recorded 13.26 secs w (+2.6) with fellow U/13 Caitlin Hancock recording 14.79 secs w (+3.1) and U/20 Nicole Alves timed at 12.79 secs w (+2.9)
Sunday at Lee Valley saw U/20’s and seniors in action. Over 200m U/20’s Sikiru Onibanjo and Tolani Alaba recorded 22.81 secs (+0.2) and 23.14 secs (+0.3) respectively. In the women’s U/20’s Nicole Alves recorded 26.44 secs (+0.7) with seniors Eloise Lewis, Lexus Ndiwe and Temi Oluresa recording 26.44 secs (+0.7), 26.49 secs (+0.7) and 28.25 secs (+0.4) respectively. Lexus’ mark was a significant personal best.
Also in action at Lee Valley was George Vaughan who was 2nd over 400m H with 55.33 secs, U/20 Amelia McDonald cleared 1.50m in the high jump and V50 Fergus Harford reached 29.48m in the hammer.
