Pedalling Pamphilon takes on the USA

To mark his recent 60th birthday, Life Member Tony Pamphilon recently set out to cycle across the USA.

Tony's life membership was awarded for his distance running achievements, which included anchoring our veterans' road relay team to numerous national medals, and co-hosting our annual Music Quiz with brother Craig for over 20 years.

He began his ride at the well-known boardwalk at Asbury Park, New Jersey, on the Atlantic Coast (photo above). He is taking a northerly route across the continent, below the Great Lakes.

Tony is no stranger to the demands of long-distance cycling, having ridden, e.g., from Alaska to Seattle, across Cuba, through Eastern Europe, and from Southern Portugal to London. Those, though, were done in company, while this is a solo venture. For the most part, he will be camping.

We wish him well in his venture and shall provide occasional updates on his progress.
