At the World Championships in Beijing Woodford's Mark Dry reached 73.75m in hammer qualifying. That placed him 15th across the two pools, where 74.51m was required to finish in the top 12 and progress to the final. Competing at the U/20 Southern Inter-Counties at Coptahll amidst Sunday's heavy rain, Joseph Dwyer comfortably won the 100m with 10.64 secs into a strong headwind. Racing at the BMC Eltham Meeting last Wednesday Jon Cook was 3rd over 800m with 1m49.62 secs, and then at Solihull over the weekend recorded a season's best to place 4th with 1m48.86 secs. .Also in action at Solihull was Sam Benge with 2m00.01 secs, and Megan Edwards was very close to her recent personal best set in the UKWL as she placed 4th in the "B" race with 2m05.52 secs.
