UKWL - First Match

The WGEL women's T & F team travelled to Edinburgh for their first match back in the UKWL Premier Division. Severely depleted with a host of absentees, those that travelled fought hard, but were unable to avoid an 8th and last place in this first fixture. Manager Keith Newton will no doubt be hoping for more support in the following fixtures.

Official results have now been published for the UKWL, and still seem to show errors with WGEL not being credited for Caroline Adams' share in the abandoned PV competition, nor for Gemma Rous' victory over 400mH. whilst this would not alter Woodford's eighth place, when corrected it should bring their points tally a lot closer to Enfield in 7th. In very bad weather conditions which saw the Pole Vault cancelled, and problems with the hammer cage a very depleted Woodford team, nevertheless fought for every point, with many athletes competing in additional events, outside of their usual areas.
