Other news over the last few days has included some fine discus throwing at the LICC meeting at Copthall, and a personal best over 100m for 16 year old Joseph Dewar.Taking advantage of favourable winds at Copthall on Saturday Woodford's discus throwers were all in good form. Emeka Udechuku achieved a season's best of 61.91m, Tom Norman recorded 56.62m, Devon Douglas also recorded a season's best of 51.16m, and just behind there was a personal best for Chris Linque of 50.51m. In the women's event there was another personal best, for Hollie Redman, of 43.93m. On Wednesday there was a personal best for Matt MaLaughlin.
Last week at a Combined Services vs Loughborough meeting, there was a season's best of 48.80 secs for Musa Audu as he won the 400m. In the women's sprints Elaine O'Neil recorded 12.33 secs (-1.6) and 25.39 secs (-1.9). In the men's 110 H Dan Davis recorded times of 14.47 secs (-1.4) and 14.50 secs (-1.0), whilst in the B 400m, Nathan Wake recorded 49.73 secs.
Amongst other results at the Woodford Graded meeting last evening (Tuesday 19th), there was a fine win in the 100m "A" race for U/17 Joseph Dewar. His new personal best of 10.88 secs (+0.3) moves him to 3rd on this season's UK rankings for his age group. He is also currently top of the long jump rankings. Competing in the the BMC meeting at Eltham on Wednesday first year U/20, Matt MacLaughlin impressed with a win in the "A" race over 800m with a personal best of 1m50.79 secs.
Saturday 16th June Essex Schools Championships at Chelmsford.
On a very windy day, James Bongart took part in the Intmediate boys Javelin.
After having a week of to finish his exams James came into the competition
fresh and hopeful for success. This was rewarded when against the conditions
he launched the Javelin to a new PB of: 49m 52cm which is a full 60cm's
better and touching that magic 50m mark. His other throws ranged between 43m
and 47m but the job was done and he claimed GOLD to add to his GOLD at the
Essex Championships in May. He now goes to the SEAA Champs with his
confidence at a high.
