Bupa London 10000 / UK 10K Road Champs

With three to score, our men's team finished 10th and our women's team 23rd on Sunday in the Bupa London 10000 incorporating the UK 10K Road Race Championships. Hywel Care was our top man, and Kay Foy our top woman.

On a very hot morning in central London, Hywel Care ran another very good race to follow on from his excellent 30.23 in the Manchester 10K a week previous. In a race won (comfortably) by Mo Farah in 29.21, he finished amongst excellent company, and took the scalps of several fine runners, in 19th place, clocking 30.50.

Results

Tom Beedell (33.08) and Darren Southcott (33.45) closed the team. Tomaz Plibersek ran a PB 32.09 for 42nd place but was ineligible for the team competition as he is not GB-eligible. Angus Holford ran 34.37.

800m specialist Kay Foy was running well over-distance, but she led our women's team home nonetheless, in 90th place in 41.53. Anne Gombert ran 42.41 and Maxine Davies 46.11.

In an unusual gesture to promote the club competition aspect and road racing in the UK in general, which the club appreciated, the race was free to our club squads of 6 per gender.
