Several Woodford athletes were in action at Manchester over the weekend at the Inter-Counties Championships which incorporated the England Championships There were no Woodford winners but there were medals for Youcef Zatat, Will Grimsey, Jack Lawrie and Bonne Buwembo.

Youcef Zatat’s medal came as he placed 2ndin the shot competition with a put of 17.60m. Also 2ndwas Will Grimsey in the high jump with a clearance of 2.10m. Jack Lawrie placed 3rdover 400mH with 50.79 secs, and in the javelin Bonne Buwembo also placed 3rdwith a throw of 63.77m. Several others progressed through to finals, with Chloe Bradley being the best placed as she finished 4thover 1500m with 4m29.84 secs. Anna Nelson was 6thover 400mH with 59.25 secs, as was Chris Stone over 200m with 21.45 secs (-0.8) having qualified with 21.36 secs (-0.2) in his semi. In the field, Lawrence Davis placed 5thin the TJ with 15.43m, Lucy Marshall 6thin the HT with 58.16m, as was Kitty Eleaye in the LJ with 5.74m  (0.0) and Chris Linque was 9thin the DT with 44.72m. In qualification Ellis Greatrex just missed out on a final place over 400m after clocking 48.31 in his semi, and also making it through to the semis was Olumide Isaac who recorded 10.95 secs (-1.3) over 100m. In the 200m heats Joanne Ryann recorded 26.60 secs.

 At the LICC meeting, over 400m Paul Scanlan recorded 50.64 secs and Becky Wilby 65.54 secs. Adrian Richards clocked 23.74 secs (+1.8) over 200m and in the U/15 hammer Luke Finch threw 33.68m. At the Scotland jumps meeting in Livingston there was a good performance from HCA member U/20 Calum Henderson who recorded a personal best of 7.41m (+1.2) to win the LJ.

In Milton Keynes at the MK5000 PB Special meeting, Angus Holford improved his 2017 5000m pb by 5 seconds, finishing 8th of 25 in the D race with a time of 15m08.66.
