YDL Lower: under-strength squad finishes 5th at Mile End

On Saturday 20th July WGEL Juniors competed in the last YDL Lower league match at Mile End hosted by VPTH. We came 5th and therefore finish 4th in the league which guarantees another year in this division.

The U/13 Girls performed really well with many PB's to their name. Talia Woolf ran: 11.87s for the 75m and a PB, and Nikita Savier was 6th A-String with: 11.34s. Nikita also did the 150m and recorded a PB: 22.32s, whilst Maya McNelis also a PB: 24.11s. Maya ran a non-scoring 75m in: 12.36s, with Megan Wright: 12.12s. In the 800m, Amana Oguntuga was 5th in a-string: 2m 43.21s and Rosemary Kelly was stunning in her 800m with a PB of: 2m 38.80s, Emily Millward ran non-scoring: 2m 48.62s. Abigail Reid was 1st again in the 1200m with: 3m 52.71s and a PB for Molly Wain: 4m 17.79s. The hurdles see Maya: 16.12s and another PB for Rosemary with 4th place b-string: 15.04s. In the Long Jump Rosemary completed her trio of PB's with: 3m 61cm and Emily Millward PB of: 3m 14cm. Abigail Reid diversified into the high jump with: 1m 10cm, Rose Dean: 4m 63cm in the shot with Megan Wright: 3m 88cm and a PB, whilst Emily got yet another PB in the Javelin: 11m 50cm. In the 4x100m relay: Nikita, Abigail, Rosemary & Amana finished 4th with: 58.51s.

Ethan Franklin ran the 100m in the u/13 boys with: 13.19s and high jumped: 1m 30cm. Jean Marc Harriott ran the 100m in: 14.28s, the 75m Hurdles was a PB of: 15.29s and equalled Ethan's high jump height of: 1m 30cm.  Kayode Alaba was in fine form in the 200m with a PB of: 28.57s and another PB in the long jump: 3m 96cm. Godwinner Nkebani ran: 29.87s in the 200m and a pb in the 75m hurdles: 15.07s. Nate Harding returning from injury did the 800m and was very impressive with 1st in the a-string: 2m 33.87s and a new PB in the Javelin: 20m 29cm. Oscar Farthing-Barbero ran the 1500m in a new PB: 5m 08.02s and James Milne: 5m 34.85s. Gregor Samson competed in the shot: 4m 27cm and Toshiro Maeda made his debut in the Javelin with: 19m 80cm for 2nd in the b-string. In the 4x100m (Godwinner, Kayode, Ethan & Jean Marc) finished 2nd in: 54.06s.

The U/15 girls see Shona Vincent record a PB in the 100m with: 12.49s and Tiya Canning Lawrence ran: 13.61s, whilst she jumped a PB in the long jump with: 4m 12cm. Charlotte Seaton was very impressive in the non-scoring 100m with a new PB time of: 12.97s. Levania Ugonna Mba ran a new PB in the 200m with: 27.64s and the 75m hurdles: 15.95s. Zahara Malcolm ran the 300m in: 43.28 for 2nd in the a-string and Cora O'Dwyer did her 1st 300m in: 48.92s, she also did the 800m non-scoring: 3m 07.60s and javelin: 9m 32cm.  Bronya Overington ran a PB in the 800m with: 2m 40.1s and Olivia Howe a PB in the b-string with: 2m 45.37s. Lily-Jo O'Sullivan made her debut in track and field with a non-scoring 800m: 2m 57.99s. Kezia Beeton ran a PB in the 1500m: 5m 02.00s and 1st a-string and the long jump: 4m 46cm. Miya Maeda also completed the 1500m: 5m 09.25s and was very impressive in the high jump with a clearance of: 1m 40cm. Gbemi Majekodunmi threw the discus: 15m 11cm and the shot putt: 6m 60cm, whilst her training partner, Elodia Boateng-Sackitey, discus: 14m 19cm and shot putt: 5.90cm. Millie Webster completed the line-up and extended her club record in the Javelin with: 29m 83cm and 2nd in a-string. The relays had a change in the 4x100m as Levania had to pull out due to injury and Charlotte Seaton stepped in, so the team (Tiya, Zahara, Charlotte & Shona) came in 3rd with: 52.90s. In the 4x300m (Kezia, Miya, Cora & Bronya) also finished 3rd in a time of: 3m 11.23s.

In a very small u/15 boys team Kaidan Chambers came 4th in a-string 100m with: 12.04s. William Kok ran the 200m in: 28.08s and a PB, plus a PB in the 800m with: 2m 23.65s. and 13m 13cm in the javelin. Danny Raymond continues to improve in everything track related and a new PB in the 300m for 2nd in a-string: 38.70s, whilst Thomas Kok also a PB in the 300m with: 46.92s. Thomas also did the shot putt with a PB of: 6m 66cm. Reuben Fabian ran the 800m in: 2m 18.38s and high jump: 1m 30cm. Luca Gormley was very good in his 1500m with a PB of: 4m 42.28s for 2nd in a-string and Ben Savidge was 3rd in b-string with: 5m 12.37s. The team finished with a 4x300m relay (Kaidan, Reuben, Thomas & Danny), they at least recorded a new club record, finishing 3rd with: 2m 48.99s.
