As the brief indoor season draws to a close, Woodford athletes were in action at the BUCS Championships in Sheffield where performances were led by titles for Che Richards and Ellen McCartney. Others were in action elsewhere.
At the BUCS indoor Championships Ellen McCartney improved her personal best to 4.00m to take the title in Sheffield. In the men’s event HCA member Nathan Gardner equalled his recent p.b. as he placed 3rd with 4.90m. It was pleasing to see Che Richards back in action after injury kept him out last summer and he took the long jump title with 7.63m. Behind Che there was a personal best for Sam Khogali as he added 2cm to his previous best to place 3rd with 7.40m. In the high jump Will Grimsey had his first competition of the indoor season and cleared 2.05m to place 4th.

In the women’s 800m Anna Clark progressed through to the final where she placed 6th with 2m12.52 secs, having run marginally quicker to qualify from her semi with 2m12.116 secs.
At Birmingham in the Indoor Grand Prix, Cindy Ofili continuing her return from injury, but just missed out on the qualifying mark of 8.10 secs for the Glasgow European Indoor Championships when she placed 3rd with 8.12 secs. In the same race Gabriella Ade-Onjobi was 7th with 8.38 secs. Cindy had earlier raced in thae flat 60m where she recorded 7.62 secs. In the men’s 60mH Cameron Fillery who had raced so well to place 2nd in the British Championships hit the first hurdle and did not finish.
Racing in the US at Notre Dame, Bradley Wattleworth continued his return to form with another p.b over 3000m when he placed 4th with 8m15.47 secs. A couple of weeks earlier he had recorded 14m24.48 secs over 5000m, also a personal best. From Germany there was news of Jordan Donnelly where he raced in a couple of graded meetings and has recorded marks of 1m57.24secs and 1m56.16 secs over 800m and also 4m04.16 secs at 1500m.
