British Universities Indoor Championships

WGwEL performances at the British Universities Indoor Championships held at Sheffield over the weekend were led by gold medals for Tara Bird and Kim Murray, and silvers for Nick Leavey and Christian North.

Tara Bird emerged a comfortable victor by more than a second over 3 rounds of 400m, setting a new CBP and marginal indoor pb of 54.24 secs. Tara later conrtributed a 24.7 secs 200m split as Brunel University set a CBP in winning the 4x200m relay. Kim Murray set an absolute pb in the long jump, taking gold with a leap of 6.03m, and earlier recorded a useful 25.93 secs in the heats of the 200m. Silver medals were won by Nick Leavey over 200m with 21.52 secs, and by Christian North  in the PV with 4.70m. Nick later recorded a fine 20.9 secs split for the Brunel 4x200m relay team that placed 3rd. In the heats of the 60m Nnamdi Umeh recorded 7.34 secs and 24.06sec in the 200m heats. Lee Lovelock-Jemmott recorded 7.84 secs in the 60m heats.
