English U/20, U/17 & U/15 Indoor Championships

Competing at Birmingham's NIA in the England age group Indoor National Championships this weekend WGwEL performances were led by gold medal performances over 200m by Junior Ejehu, and over 400m by Paul Scanlan. There was a silver medal in the U/20 women's PV for Maria Seager, as well as some other fine performances.

 In the U/17 men's 400m Paul Scanlan again improved his pb to 49.17 secs to gain victory, and  to move to 10th on the UK all-time rankings for the age group indoors. It was also a new WGwEL club record for the age group. Junior Ejehu's victory in the U/20 men's 200m with 21.62  moves him into 10th on the rankings amongst athletes of all ages in the UK this winter. In addition he got in some over-distance prepaartion with a 400 s/f time on 50.9 secs after a 50.50 secs heat clocking. Fellow junior international Eugene Ayanful placed 7th in the 60m Final with 6.93 secs, and in the 200m he was 5th with 22.36 secs, having clocked 22.02 secs in his semi-final.

In the women's U/20 pole vault there was a silver medal for Maria Seager with 3.80m, whilst in the U/17 TJ David Crisp just missed out on a medal in 5th with 13.48m, as did Rachael Dean in the women's U/17 event with 10.91m for 4th. On the track Gavin Lewis was also just outside the medals with 3m59.27 secs for 4th in the U/20 1500m, as was Katherine Foy for 5th in the U/20 women's 800m with 2m17.89 secs. In the men's U/20 event Omar Mansour recorded 1m56.40 secs in his heat.
