With this event being cancelled in February because of snow, our younger athletes enjoyed good conditions for it on 5th April at Chigwell Police Grounds. The first six were to qualify for the Essex Primary Schools Champs in Hadleigh on April 26th.

The Year 3 race started the ball rolling for us with a fine run from Merissa Higgs-Smith, who placed 2nd to qualify for the Essex Champs.
In the Year 4 race a late charge came from Daisy Sherrin, as she placed a fine 3rd to also secure her spot at the Essex Champs.
In the Year 5 Girls race over 1500m Amber Higgs-Smith, coached by Joe Everitt on a Thursday, had a commanding victory and could feature highly at Hadleigh.
The Year 6 Girls race brought three of our outstanding Under 11s together. Molly Sherrin took an early lead but at halfway was being tracked by Amana Oguntuga, with Hannah Hardy a comfortable third. Molly then showed her class by easing away from Amana to win, while Amana rallied again for a good second spot. Hannah showed good endurance for a safe 3rd spot and fast-improving Maya McNelis ran well for 8th.
In the Year 6 Boys race Gregor Samson took the lead early on. In the latter part of the course he conceded two places to place 3rd but he did have a real go at trying to win from the front.
So all in all a fine showing from our up and coming Under 11s.
