On a warm Wednesday evening in Braintree this week, Angus Holford picked up the silver medal in the Essex 10,000m championships.
Angus was the only Woodford runner in a reasonably sized field of around 20 men and 3 women for this championship race comprising largely of runners based in the eastern half of the county and including a contingent of his Colchester Harriers training partners. Taking on the pace for the first ten laps, Angus allowed Crispian Bloomfield (Billericay Striders) and Ramadan Osman (Colchester Harriers) to set the pace for the subseqent laps before reeling Crispian in with a mile to go.
Ramadan Osman took the gold with Angus about 30sec behind in 33m19s with training partner Adam Sawyer (Colchester Harriers) taking the bronze. Colchester also picked up the team gold.
