On Saturday U13 Millie Webster travelled to Sandy for the Bedfordshire AAA open meeting. It was her first outing of the outdoor season in the Javelin. In her 1st throw she threw just over 20m, which was a solid start, and then followed this up with her 3rd best throw in her short athletic career with 23m 83cm. It wasn't very far from her PB and with still elements of her technique to improve, surely a new PB is not far off.
On Sunday 3 athletes took part in the Lee Valley U/13 & U/15 Pentathlon & Open meeting. Shona Vincent and Aiden Fernando competed in the 60m sprint. Shona proved that hard work really does pay off, as she powered her way to a big PB with a time of 8.09sec, ranking her in the top 25 in the country as a 1st year in that age group. Aiden didn't want to be outdone and subsequently ran twice in the U/15 Boys 60m, improving his PB on both occasions. A time of 7.63sec was then bettered by a time of 7.56sec, which ranks him just outside the top 30.
Samuel Oshodi took part in the U/15 Boys pentathlon. He finished 5th in the competition with a PB points total of 1912. This is made up of the following:
800m: 2m 36.18s; 60m Hurdles: 10.36s; High Jump: 1m 55cm; Shot Putt: 8m 12cm; Long Jump: 4m 98cm.
Aiden Fernando also competed in the U/15 Boys 200m and set a PB of 24.6s.
