What change in weather a week can make! From a Siberian Met League at Ally Pally to a balmy spring afternoon in Hackney, the warm weather certainly brought out some fine performances.
4 young athletes turned out for the 5th race in the Chingford league calendar, the road race around Victoria Park, comprising of two laps of a just under a mile circuit.
In the U13 race, Woodford Green placed 1,2,3, the trio (photo below) being led by Jimmy Geller, who ran 11’24” for the 3100m course and has now won the event, followed by James Brigstocke-Williams just 20’ behind in 2nd and in 3rd a very happy Ronan Edwards running in his first ever race for Woodford Green, grinning with delight as he ran into the funnel.
In the U15 race, Rhys Edwards (pictured top), who admitted to being tired from a half term week away playing hockey, found enough energy to secure a strong 3rd, meaning he has won the overall U15 competition. He and Jimmy now go to the Chingford Relays and collect their cups.
