A number of WGwEL athletes were competing around Europe over the weekend, with Beijing Olympic finalists Sarah Claxton and Jeanette Kwakye amongst those in action.

Olympic 100m 6th placer, Jeanette Kwakye whose season has been delayed through injury was in action for the first time this year, over both 100m and 200m this weekend. In Oslo on Friday evening at the Bislett Games Jeanette placed 7th over 100m with 11.67 secs (+0.1), and in Zhukovskiy, Russia on Sunday was also 7th, over 200m with 24.14 secs w (+2.7). Fellow Olympic finalist, over100mH, Sarah Claxton was in action in Cork, Ireland where she placed 4th in 13.48 secs (+1.8). Joice Maduaka competed in Valenje, Slovenia over both 100m and 200m, placing 3rd with 11.57 secs (w?) and 1st with 23.53 secs (w?).Two of Woodford's athletes selected for the European U/23 Championships were also in action, with Callum Priestley recording a personal best over 110mH of 13.78 secs as he placed2nd in Oodengem, Belgium, and Tara Bird was in action at the Madrid Grand Prix meeting where she placed 4th in the "B" 800m with 2m05.05 secs. Also in action in the Oordengem meeting was Tom Phillips who placed 2nd in the "B" 1500m with a personal best of 3m51.59 secs
