Team reunite for Ayo

Just prior to Christmas, 300-400 people attended the funeral of Ayo Falola. The funeral was followed by a celebration of his life at Lee Valley.

Ayo formed part of the 4x100m team which still holds the club record in that event, and the other members of that record holding team were present to pay tribute to their former team-mate.

The record, of 40.15 seconds, was set when winning the Cup-Final at Bedford on 30.8.97, and the order was Ayo, Josephus Thomas, Jocelyn Thomas, Tim O´Dell. The photo shows, from left to right, Josephus, Tim and Jocelyn, with one of Ayo's sons, Ben.

AYO FALOLA

It is with great sadness that we have to report that Ayo Falola, who had been battling cancer for a number of years, passed away peacefully last night.Ayo competing

Ayo was a Life Member of Woodford Green, a former sprinter, and more recently a coach to a number of successful British athletes.

Our thoughts at this time are with Ayo's wife Sarah and their three sons.

Athletics Weekly reports on the many superb tributes that have been paid to Ayo.
